AUCEA Committees

The AUCEA Board is keen to enable greater member participation and to better facilitate this three (3) Committees have been established to deal with specific areas of interest, and they are:
Governance and Administration;

Relationship Development; and

Scholarship

Unlike the AUCEA Board, membership on a Committee does not require election by the members and people can be co-opted by the Board or self-nominate at the AUCEA annual conference.

Governance and Administration Committee

  • Develops policies and procedures in consultation with other Committees as required, to ensure smooth operation of organisation;
  • Provides policy advice to Board;
  • Ensures all finances and insurances are in order, according to policies and annual reporting and auditing requirements;
  • Ensures all resources (both human and financial) are managed appropriately.

Relationship Development Committee

  • Builds stronger relationships with existing University Members;
  • Encourages non-member universities to become involved;
  • Builds existing relations with national and international organisations, including BHERT and Talloires Network;
  • Explores and develops new relationships with individuals, community groups, national and international organisations to encourage Associate Membership.

Scholarship Committee

  • Provides academic leadership and advice to the AUCEA Board in respect to the scholarship of engagement;
  • Supports the advancement of the Fellowship program;
  • Contributes to the academic focus of the annual conference;
  • Develops an annual and ongoing Professional Development program that includes visiting scholars, on-line workshops using Elluminate, and other activities. 
  • Oversees the Australasian Journal of University Community Engagement (see below).

The Australasian Journal of University Community Engagement has a three-person Editorial Team that has been appointed for a three-year term (2009-2011 inclusive) and comprises:

  • A/Prof  Diana Whitton (University of Western Sydney),
  • Prof Marie Kavanagh (University of Southern Queensland) and
  • Dr Donella Caspersz (University of Western Australia).

The position of Journal Editor is rotated around the Editorial Team and the Editors duties are to

  • Chair the editorial/publication subcommittee;
  • Manage e-journal, in consultation with editorial team and seek to raise profile of journal both nationally and internationally;
  • Oversee the policies, guidelines and processes of preparing the e-Journal
  • Co-ordinating the refereeing of papers for the e-journal and other publications as required;
    • Prepare Editorial comment for two annual editions – Spring and Autumn.
    • Arrange for book reviews from time to time to be installed on the AUCEA website or for publication.

The Editorial Team is keen to expand the Editorial Panel and welcomes enquiries from Scholars who have a strong track record of publications, as well as current experience in University-Community Engagement and related areas such as Work Integrated Learning and Service Learning.
